Appeal for Crewe and Nantwich

It's something of an understatement to say that the by-election in Crewe and Nantwich on 22 May is an important one for us.

The Tories are working hard and David Cameron is urging voters here to "Send Mr Brown a message".

We've never needed your help more.

The Tories think they have it in the bag. But - as results last week in Slough, Oxford, Hastings and Ipswich show - when we work hard on the ground we win elections.

That's why I've set our (small) campaign team here a huge challenge - on Saturday and Sunday we want to deliver 20,000 leaflets and talk to 4000 voters.

We can't do it without you.

If you can spare any time at all this weekend PLEASE come to Crewe and give us a few hours of your time. I promise it'll be fun - there's a great spirit here on the campaign because we know how important it is to show the Tories that we are still the right Party for the people of Crewe and Nantwich.

Turn up any time at our campaign HQ - 173-175 Nantwich Road, Crewe, CW2 6DF.

The demands of our core vote and activists

I have listened to what has been said on these blogs and so I have to a comprimise list on what we should do now as a part.

We must rally around the party flag and Gordon
We must make sure we are clear about the 10p tax rate
Look at giving workers a christmas bonus eg raise the tax threshold
Raise the minimum wage for all young people

Show we care!!

We need Brown to change direction!!

We gained seats in St helens & Liverpool

We seemed to have bucked the trend in Merseyside by gaining two seats in St Helens and four in Liverpool.  The rest of the country is worrying, but we hope that there is a re-think on some more progessive policies.  Lets hope we can still win in London.

Support the Grangemouth workers!

As an amicus unite lay official, I am proud to say I am supporting the above workers.  How dare these employers take support away from their pensions.  You have my branch's and others support!!

We should be supporting public sector workers!

Dear Comrades

There is a number of us on strike today.  We are public sector workers, who work under greater pressure than ever.  Can I ask that the Government consider paying all workers a fair day's wage.

Concessions are a move in the right direction

After a good display by Gordon at PMQs, I feel progress has been made on the tax issue.  I think we still should re-think the policy.

We need to stand up for the low paid!!

Dear all

I have seen the reaction to my last post and have been staggered by it.  At the end of the day if we don't change policy on the 10p tax rate, we our going to lose the support of the low paid.  Again I repeat, we must wake up here!  I hear there maybe signs of change beginning to happen at no 10 and 11.  This will be in the form of changing the tax threshold for lower paid workers.

John Wiseman

Has Brown had it over the 10p tax rate and for not listening to his own party members?

I seem to be in the middle of a nightmare at present.  The BNP are standing all over my home constituency.  Everyone seems depressed where I am standing for parliament.  Gordon has decided to take money away from his core vote,  PPS's are threatening to resign!! When are we going to wake up!!!  There is hundreds of councillors who are going to lose their seats if Gordon doesn't listen.  I am asking please Gordon for the last time wake up and smell the coffee and save the party as in rectify the tax change!!!

BNP target St Helens with 10 candidates

The BNP are fiedling a record 10 candidates in St Helens for the locals.  They have only previously put up one or two candidates.  I am sure that this concerns us all as St Helens could be taken back into Labour control this time.  We are leafleting on the 12 and 13.  Please contact me on JWis221300@aol.com.  If you can help.

NEC election gathering pace as nominations sent in

Dear Colleagues

The NEC elections is going well with all candidates having a say on issues.  My only concern is to make sure it is falls on policy and democracy and not personality.  I hope that all members will vote for who they think will offer best representation for their interests.  If would like to nominate/vote for me, please view:-

Donations to the party the solution!!

Haven't we listened to the grassroots.  Cruddas showed us that listening to the party gets you support.  The issue of donations is interesting, but not impossible.  You would find that my union Unite as well as Unison, CWU and GMB, would give more money to the party if the party would listen more and implement Warwick.  I know that my union would give more.  This is the solution to our funding problem not state funding!.  Lets keep the union link and during internal elections let candidates apply to their union for support!

Left Gain Strength in Unite NEC elections

I have decided to concentrate on union issues, and shock horror the left and centre left are doing well in the nomination stages of the elections,  if I was Amicus NW.  I would re-write his memoirs about the NW being a bastian of the right.  See for yourself

John Wiseman decision to stand after consultation

After comments by some comrades.  I am now convinced that I must stand

1 I feel I have the experience needed to shake up the NEC
2 Everybody who knows me will tell you I don't quite when comes to respresenting people

I am pushing for a progressive ticket, democracy, honesty and accountability, and someone who will support workers.  I am sorry I have to stand as a left independent, but we need change in the party and now.  I can unite the left and centre left better than most.  I am committed to getting this party back to its roots.  I ask you for the last time to nominate me.
